Wyoming Seminary Schedules Upper and Lower School Open House on Sunday, December 9
Parents of students who will be entering preschool through high school next year, and are interested in learning more about Wyoming Seminary, are invited to experience Sem by attending an Open House at both Lower and Upper Schools on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 1-3 p.m. on Sem’s Forty Fort and Kingston campuses.
At Lower School, families may tour classrooms from preschool to eighth grade. The Admission staff and the Deans of both primary and middle school will be available to answer any questions regarding curriculum, the admission process or the upcoming Middle-School Merit Exam on Feb. 2, 2008.
Sem’s Lower School is a preschool (age three) through grade eight independent day school dedicated to small classes and excellence in education. The Lower School offers individualized attention, modern library, auditorium and gymnasium, music and art classes, study of Spanish and French beginning in kindergarten and Latin in grades seven and eight, 11 middle school sports for girls and boys, and a wide range of extracurricular and after-school activities.
Applications are accepted up to one year in advance of entry. The Lower School will maintain waiting pools when necessary for all programs.
Interested parents may call or email Heidi Sims, Associate Director of Lower School Admission, at 718-6610 or hsims@wyomingseminary.org for more information and to register.
The Upper School Open House will feature tours of the campus, opportunities to meet teachers and students, information on admission and financial aid, and the admission process for the upcoming Trustee Academic Scholarship Exam on February 2, 2008. Visitors are invited to come to the Admission Office in the Stettler Learning Resource Center on North Sprague Avenue to begin their tours and receive information.
Sem’s Upper School is an independent coeducational college preparatory school that enrolls about 460 day and boarding students from 11 states and 21 countries in grades nine through 12, as well as a postgraduate year. Sem offers more than 160 courses and Advanced Placement courses in all major disciplines, preparing students for 25 AP subject exams. Twenty sports are available for girls and boys. Sem’s outstanding fine and performing arts program offers vocal and instrumental music, theater, dance and fine arts opportunities.
Sem’s outstanding college guidance staff members work closely with students, beginning in the sophomore year, to help them identify and apply to the college or university that is best for them. One hundred percent of Sem graduates attend college, and in 2007, eighty percent of the graduating class gained admission to “very,” “highly,” or “most competitive” colleges and universities.
Pre-registration for this Sem Upper School Open House is requested. For more information or to register call the Admission Office at 570-270-2160.
