Kirby Library features Sem celebrities in its READ posters

The Kirby Library has replaced its Antonio Banderas and Britney Spears celebrity READ posters with some local celebrities - Sem teachers and students.

Librarian Courtney Lewis wanted to revitalize the Kirby Library while also promoting reading in the Sem community - so she organized a "Faculty Member You'd Most Want to See on a READ Poster" contest during last year's Teen Read Week.

The winners of that contest, English teachers Mary Ann Hopkins and Jack Moriarity, were featured in their own READ posters. "Fortunately for us, they are astonishingly photogenic and inspired a slew of students and faculty to have their pictures taken!" said Lewis.

The Kirby Library currently has 14 posters - 11 students and three with faculty members and, according to Lewis, "they have been a huge hit."

So stop by the Kirby Library to see what your favorite Sem celebrities love to read - and you could be on one yourself. The next photo shoot for the posters will be taken in December.
