More than 40 former Madrigal singers came to campus on December 3 and 4 and joined the Wyoming Seminary choral in singing Handel’s Messiah. Rehearsal on Saturday afternoon was followed by a reunion party held at the Shafer House on campus, where thirty-five years of madrigal singers met for some fellowship and cheer. The Sunday afternoon concert at the Great Hall was performed in front of a standing-room-only crowd.

During a meeting at the Westmoreland Club on December 7, The Wyoming Seminary Alumni Council voted to grant money to six student-lead clubs and programs. Student leaders were asked to prepare a grant proposal and present an oral argument stating why the club needs the funds and how they would be used if awarded. Proceeds for the project come from money raised at the annual golf tournament in May. The following clubs and programs received funding: Film Club, Medical club, Baking Club, Mock Trial, Sign Language Club, and Student Government.

Students receive honors at Model UN Conference
Five Wyoming Seminary Upper School students recently received honors for their presentations at the Brown University Model United Nations Conference, held on the university campus in Providence, R.I. Read more... Class Notes: Nick Miller '06 puts linguistic skills to work in Saigon school
Proficient in a half-dozen languages, Sem grad Nick Miller also knows words and phrases from almost 50 languages, literally ranging from A (Albanian) to Z (Zulu). He's putting his skills to good use and is teaching Mandarin Chinese at an international school to mostly American, Vietnamese and Japanese students in Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam. Danielle Wayda '09 On Thursday, December 15, Danielle Wayda, of Hanover Township, currently a junior at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, attended a colloquium to launch the Women in Public Service Project at the State Department in Washington, D.C. The Women in Public Service Project is designed to increase the participation of women around the globe in public service and political leadership, and to develop global solutions to improve governance, expand civil rights, and combat corruption.
Danielle, daughter of Sandy Madl, Hanover Township, a 2009 graduate of Wyoming Seminary was one of 25 Mount Holyoke students to receive an invitation to this event from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. On December 15, Secretary Clinton was scheduled to speak about the project in a keynote address to an invited gathering of women leaders alumnae, students, faculty and community members of the Seven Sisters colleges including Mount Holyoke, Smith, Wellesley, Barnard, and Bryn Mawr.
The Project will identify and educate a new generation of women committed to public service, create an infrastructure of support and mentoring, and help enable more women to enter public service and political leadership. Its goal is to engage and inspire future generations of women leaders in the United States and around the world.
