The Scoop from STEM

The Maslow STEM School is off to another great start this year! This fall we have hosted a variety of events, including the student and faculty panel on Summer STEM experiences and a lecture series event welcoming back cancer survivor Barbara Sciandra. This year's new event was guest speaker Dr. Chris Sanders, presenting on past, present, and future breast reconstruction practices. At Lower School we hosted our annual cardboard challenge as part of the Global Day of Play celebration.

As a part of Scholarship Test Day visiting families were treated to representations of STEM at SEM including robotics, submersibles, electrical engineering, aeronautics, 3D printing and, of course, pumpkin chunkin'. A huge thank you to all who participated.

The STEM Advisory Board had its first meeting in October. Many great ideas and future programming plans were discussed. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. We welcome interested students, faculty, and Sem community members to attend.

Please contact Mr. John R. Eidam, Jr. at jeidam2@wyomingseminary.org if you are interested in more information about the STEM Advisory Board.

International Dinner to be held in January

Every year the International Club organizes events to celebrate the many different countries and cultures from which Sem students come. The club's biggest event is the International Dinner held each January. If your child is a member of the International Club, please consider discussing what recipes your child might want to use and what special ingredients might be needed, while your child is home during the fall break. Your child will need to bring those recipes and ingredients back to Sem after the winter break.
