Author's Day

 

Award-winning graphic novelist and picture book author Kevin Sherry will be visiting the Lower School on Wednesday, May 3. His books entertain from the youngest in our school to students in middle school. Order a book or books today to have them personalized for your child(ren). They are great keepsakes or perfect gifts! Bake Sale

 

The eighth grade parents will sponsor a bake sale during all lunch periods on Friday, May 5. All proceeds benefit eighth grade graduation. Thank you for your support!

 

Screenagers Movie

 

"How much is enough?" STEM at Sem and Sem's "Raising Kids in the Digital Age" group invite you to view the award-winning documentary "Screenagers" in the Lower School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16. The movie is 70 minutes and will be followed up by short discussion led by our Sem counselors Dr. Kathleen Carlisle and Ms. Jessica Montrella. "Screenagers", not available on DVD, is for middle and upper school parents and students. This special event is free and open to the community.

Spring Concerts

 
Spring Concert and Art Exhibit

You are cordially invited to the Spring Concert and Art Exhibit to be held this Thursday, May 4. All students should arrive at 5:30 p.m. in Concert Attire.
The Choral Concert begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Art Exhibit.

Field Day Fun!

 

All the Details

On Field Day our students enjoy a variety of fun field races and activities along with a delicious catered lunch. Planned activities include, but are not limited to, a rock wall climb, a bounce house, face painting and arts and crafts. This years theme is "So Emojional!"

Date: Friday May 26, 2017
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $10.00 per person (students are free)

           A reminder that each student must have a parent attend field day.

Please plan to join us at this wonderful end of year celebration!


Field Day Raffle
The raffle ticket sale begins on Monday May 22 in the mural room. Most tickets are 5 for $1.00, while several "top prizes" are $1.00 each.  

 

All donations are needed by Friday May 19 for set up. The raffle donations are then moved outside on May 26 for Field day. If you have any new unopened toys please consider donating them to the Children's Raffle. As you know the more that is donated the more fun it is for the children. Monetary donations and gift baskets would be great too. All items can be dropped off at the main office. We really appreciate your help! As in the past, each Sem student will receive a free t-shirt to wear on Field Day! YOUR SEM STUDENT'S ORDER HAS ALREADY BEEN PLACED.

Screen Free Week

Please stop by the Sordoni Library this week in observance of "Screen Free Week." Unplug from digital entertainment by enjoying a good book, putting together a puzzle, or playing board games in the library. Try connecting with friends, and rediscover the joys of life beyond the screen!

Library Inventory
The last day to borrow books will be Friday, May 12. Please return all overdue books to the library book bin!

Radical Readers
The last day for Radical Readers will be Friday, May 19. A big thank you to all the students who participated in this reading partner program throughout the school year.

Children's Book Week
Children's Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading. Established in 1919, Children's Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. It is the 98th anniversary of Children's Book Week. There are an abundance of beautiful books by favorite authors in the Sordoni Library...Carle, Dahl, Dewdney, Henkes, Kellogg, Sendak, Shannon, Willems, and many more! Plus, free bookmarks to all who check-out a book! Let's celebrate..."Every Child a Reader!"

Free Comic Book Day
Free Comic Book Day is celebrating its 16th anniversary on Saturday, May 6, 2017! It is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to help bring new readers into the realm of reading and appreciating comics. This is a great family event! Families can meet comic creators, get great giveaways, and find really cool books of which there are so many different genres available. Comics are for all ages! STEM Summer Program
 

Don't miss out on this summer camp opportunity! Be sure to register for the STEM Summer Camp. Students entering grades 6-9 are invited to be part of a series of week-long camps that will include new and fun experiences through engineering projects, and STEM-related activities. The camp will have a group dynamic, so your child can plan to come with a friend or make new ones. Early Summer Fun

Early Summer Fun is designed to engage students in learning and exploring through workshops that emphasize hands-on experiences and lots of FUN! Annual Lower School Girls Lacrosse Camp
June 5 - 9, 2017

 

Please join the Wyoming Seminary Upper School coaching staff and team for our annual girls lacrosse camp to be held June 5 - 9 at Klassner Field (Upper School). This camp is open to girls, rising third - eighth grades, who are currently playing lacrosse or interested in learning to play. This camp is a great opportunity to improve lacrosse skills and have fun. Please print and complete the registration form and hold harmless form and return to Catie Kersey, head varsity girls lacrosse coach. If you have questions, please contact Catie Kersey (ckersey@wyomingseminary.org). Rising ninth graders can serve as counselors; if you'd like to be a counselor, please let Coach Kersey know.

 

Youth Field Hockey
