Using life-sized puppets, fantastic costumes, masks, mime, magic, dance and music, Enchantment Theatre Company of Philadelphia has created a theatrical adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s beloved stories of Peter Rabbit and his friends to mark the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth in 1866 and the company’s 15th year as a non-profit arts organization.
Combining three of the famous “Peter Rabbit” tales, Enchantment’s production introduces a grown-up Peter, his cousin Benjamin and sister Flopsy, as they remember their adventures in Mr. McGregor’s garden and go on a quest to rescue Benjamin and Flopsy’s children from the badger, Tommy Brock.
The performance is intended for audiences age five to 85, or school groups from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. It is part of Enchantment Theatre’s two-year tour of the production throughout the United States and Canada.
This exclusive production is authorized by Penguin Random House UK, publisher, on behalf of Frederick Warne & Co., owner of all rights, copyrights and trademarks of Beatrix Potter character names and illustrations, and has been made possible in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
This performance is part of Wyoming Seminary’s 2016-17 Sem Presents! performing arts series. For more information call 570-270-2192.
