Julie Bean of Moosic has been named Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Wyoming Seminary, announced Kevin Rea, Sem president. Bean will oversee all aspects of the school’s domestic and international admission efforts, financial aid programs, and marketing for both Lower and Upper Schools.
Bean has served as the Interim Dean of Admission since May, 2016, and Lower School Director of Admission since 2014. During that time she has worked to introduce and welcome new families to Sem, increase enrollment, enhance and improve programming, beautify spaces on both campuses, and serve on the President’s cabinet.
Prior to joining Sem, Bean worked in the admission office at Pine Point School in Stonington, Connecticut, where she carried out all aspects of the school’s admission and marketing efforts. She also participated in the school’s accreditation self-study and had served as director of the school’s extended day program. She also served as a psychotherapist at Connecticut College and maintained a private practice in psychotherapy in Mystic, Connecticut.
In the community Bean has served as a volunteer and board member for area organizations such as CASA of Luzerne County, Volunteers in Medicine, the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, Bold Gold Media Foundation and Sem’s Lower School and Upper School Parents Associations.

Her talents will enable her to direct the school’s admission and financial aid efforts successfully to expand Sem’s position as one of the premiere independent schools in Pennsylvania, the United States and the world."Bean holds bachelor of science degrees in both education and psychology from Emmanuel College and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lesley University. She also is certified in elementary school education and holds state licenses and a National Board Certification in professional counseling.
