Julie Bean, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid , announced that after a national search, Tiffany Maakestad (pictured, left) has been appointed Director of Lower School Admissions at Wyoming Seminary. Tiffany will oversee all aspects of Lower School Admissions.

Tiffany previously served as Director of Admission at Twin Spring Farm Day School in Ambler, Pa. In addition to attracting and welcoming wonderful new families to the school, stewarding them through the admissions process and enrollment management, Tiffany successfully added an infant program to the school and grew the existing toddler program from one to three rooms. She has successfully managed the enrollment of the Nursery and Pre-K programs to capacity. In her prior role, Tiffany was also responsible for the marketing and outreach programs.

Prior to heading up admission efforts at Twin Spring Farm Day School, Tiffany served for six years heading their toddler program. As lead teacher, Tiffany managed a staff, reviewed curriculum plans and activities, and evaluated the program's effectiveness. She implemented performance standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines into the day-to-day operation of the toddler center, including developmentally appropriate practices for the preschool program.

Tiffany has also served as a behavioral therapist. She collaborated with teachers and educators to devise and implement a comprehensive counseling and guidance program in seven classrooms for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. This innovative program included regularly scheduled classroom activities emphasizing problem solving skills, development of self-esteem, and tools for conflict resolution and decision making. In addition to providing individual and group counseling to students with a focus on school adjustment challenges, Tiffany developed a workshop titled "Teaching Empathy to Children." Her knowledge and experience in the classroom, counseling and in admissions will be invaluable to her work at Sem.

Tiffany holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Wilkes University and a master's degree in school counseling and human relations from Villanova University. She also studied at Universite Sorbonne in Paris, and holds a certification in school counseling.

Tiffany will begin work at Sem in the coming weeks. For more information, please call the Admissions Office at 570-270-2160.
