Wyoming Seminary Lower School
Wyoming Seminary Lower School is a toddler through grade 8 day school in Forty Fort, just across the Susquehanna River from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Our roots run deep through the history of the Wyoming Valley, going back as far as 1807 when the first of our ancestral schools, the Wilkes-Barre Institute, opened its doors.
At the Lower School today, an average class size of 12 and a student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1 facilitates academic achievement.
Ask our parents what makes us special. They'll tell you about our brand-new Early Childhood Learning Center for toddlers and preschoolers, where hands-on learning creates an excitement in the air and where the emphasis is on the whole child.
They'll mention that one-on-one attention in our nurturing classrooms means that you'll hear from our teachers often - both in conferences and in the written comments you receive throughout the year.
Come visit our campus. Observe the new string program for budding violinists and cellists in grades 1 to 8. Hear about our French, Spanish and Latin programs, which begin as early as kindergarten and produce national-level award winners by the middle-school years. Learn more about our award-winning MATHCOUNTS team and our state-of-the-art Smart Boards technology, one-to-one laptop, and iPad programs that bring the world into the classroom.
At the end of the day, check out our after-school program, where your child can learn sign language, create an iMovie or learn to dance. Or watch our student athletes compete on fields where they are more than just a jersey number - they are active participants who acquire new skills, learn about teamwork, and take in the lessons in life that come with it!
