Lower School Fine and Performing Arts
Students at Wyoming Seminary Lower School have the
opportunity to participate in music, art, dance and theatrical
performances during the school year. All grades perform in the Holiday
and spring choral concerts, and middle-school instrumental students
perform in the band. Those interested in jazz music may play in the
Jazz Band.
Student artwork is
exhibited in conjunction with the concerts, and second-grade students
mount their own special exhibit, reflecting their year-long study of an
artist or group of artists. Outstanding student work is also exhibited
at the annual Fine Arts Fiesta in nearby Wilkes-Barre, a juried art
exhibition for student and professional artists.
Middle-school dancers may perform with the Upper School's Dance Company in their annual dance program.
Each
year the Lower School presents at least one dramatic production, giving
middle-school students the opportunity to begin learning the basics of
acting, stage movement, makeup, costuming and set design.
All
performances take place in the Amato Auditorium, featuring an expanded
stage, state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment, comfortable
seating and updated climate control.
