The Wyoming Seminary Blue Knights softball team competes in Division II of the Wyoming Valley Conference of the PIAA. Our team motto is "Everybody H.I.T.S", which stands for "Hustle, Intensity, Teamwork and Spirit".
In the Spring of 2014 we will begin playing our home games on campus at Nesbitt Field. We will have the first all-artificial turf softball field in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and we are very excited to play closer to our fan base.
Congratulations to the following players for being named Wyoming Valley Conference All-Stars for 2013:
• Mackenzie Gagliardi, '15 (C,SS,P)-First Team. Mackenzie led the team with a .545 batting average. She had four doubles, three triples and two homeruns to contribute to her slugging percentage of 1.030. She was also tied for the team lead in RBI. Mackenzie provided rock-solid defense behind the plate, throwing out four runners trying to steal, and serving as an outstanding field general. She has been an All-Star in both of her seasons on the Blue Knights squad. Mackenzie will be a co-captain for 2014.
• Morgan Malone (SS)-Second Team. In her first season at Sem, Morgan made an impact in multiple sports. An All-State Field Hockey player, she made a big splash on the diamond as well. Morgan hit .486, including two doubles and a homerun. Her four triples led the entire WVC. Morgan is a fine defender, and her play at shortstop was a key to our team's improvement defensively.
Sem's softball team has repeatedly won recognition for academic excellence. The 2012-13 squad had the 29th highest weighted GPA in the country (3.53). It was the second year in a row that we made the Top 30. We are proud of our tradition of having a team of scholar-athletes who work hard on the field and in the classroom.
The following players were recognized as All-American Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for 2012-13:
