The Wyoming Seminary Blue Knights softball team competes in Division II of the Wyoming Valley Conference of the PIAA. Our program focuses on skills development, teamwork & hustle, and we look forward to building a winning tradition. Our team motto is "Everybody H.I.T.S", which stands for "Hustle, Intensity, Teamwork and Spirit". Come to one of our games and watch this come to life! We hope to see you out at the field in nearby Plains, PA.
Congratulations to the following players for being named Wyoming Valley Conference (Division A) All-Stars for 2012:
• Katie Marsman '12 (C)-First Team. Katie led the team with a .475 batting average, 3 HR and 15 RBI. She had 4 doubles and 4 triples to contribute to her slugging percentage of 1.000. Katie also provided rock-solid defense behind the plate. We will miss her next year, but wish her luck as she continues her athletic career by playing both softball and ice hockey at SUNY Potsdam.
• Mackenzie Gagliardi '15 (SS,P)-Second Team. Mackenzie made an immediate impact as a 9th grader. She batted .375 with 3 HR and 13 RBI and led the team in runs scored. She played excellent defense at shortstop, but also earned a win and two saves in the pitchers' circle. Mackenzie is a key part of our team's bright future.
Sem's softball team has repeatedly won recognition for academic excellence. The 2011-12 squad had the third highest GPA of any softball team in Pennsylvania, and the 27th highest weighted GPA in the country. We are proud of our tradition of having a team of scholar-athletes who work hard on the field and in the classroom. The following players were recognized as Academic All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for 2011-12:
