Parents Weekend Schedule:
Friday, October 22
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. - Parents attend classes with students
Your child may protest, but don’t let that deter you from joining him
or her for a morning of classes! Bell 1 begins at 8:00; your child can
direct you to Sprague Hall, Nesbitt Hall or the Buckingham Performing
Arts Center. If your child does not have a Bell 1 class, the day will
begin at 8:25.
11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. - Lunch
Bring the family and join the campus community for lunch in Fleck Hall.
12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. - Parent-Teacher Conferences
An
important part of Parents Weekend is the opportunity for parents to
meet each of their son's/daughter's teachers. This introductory meeting
allows parents and teachers to get to know one another. Parents learn a
bit about each course and the teacher's expectations, and teachers can
benefit from any insight the parents wish to share about their student.
5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. - Reception with the President
Parents are cordially invited to join President and Mrs. Nygren for
refreshments at their home, Laycock House, on Maple Avenue across from
the Carpenter Gym.
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. - Dinner
Everyone is invited to a casual dinner in Fleck Dining Hall.
7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. - Arts Showcase
Enjoy selections by the Wyoming Seminary Chorale, Madrigal Singers,
Wyoming Seminary Players, orchestra and chamber musicians.
Saturday, October 23
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Parent-Deans' Meeting
Upper School Dean Jay Harvey, along with the Class Deans (Jon Siff, freshmen; C.J. Kersey, sophomores and juniors; and Catie Kersey, seniors and PGs), will lead an informative session on the state of the school and aspects of student life here at Sem. Parents are encouraged to take this opportunity to ask questions and get to know their student's dean.
