Digital Film & Photography

Wyoming Seminary’s Digital Film and Photography classes focus on student development as skilled performers and technicians. Digital Film students learn and utilize a wide range of industry-known technical tools and knowledge to create a memorable final cut!

From novice filmmaking to understanding advanced technical and aesthetic values, the Digital Film and Photography classes instruct in technical fundamentals of the digital movie-making world (boom mics, camera movements, lighting). Classroom theory will be put into practice as students apply their knowledge to various digital projects. Students analyze fundamental production and editing tools and techniques and learn to replicate them in their own projects.

Students have the opportunity to work with of HD and 4k camcorders for video (including the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4k) and Nikon DSLR cameras for photography. Most recently, we have been editing in DaVinci Resolve, is an industry-known, powerful, and free video editing software, although our computer lab also has Final Cut Pro licenses installed.

The digital film classes endeavor to challenge not only the abilities of students involved in the program, but also the artistic and thematic sensibilities of the entire Sem community. Sem understands the value of the arts as an integral and essential part of lifelong learning.
