Field Hockey
Overview
The Wyoming Seminary field hockey program is built on a rich history of success that dates back to the early-20th century when Sem was a pioneer that introduced the sport to the greater Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
Few teams in the state of Pennsylvania, at any level and any sport, have achieved the immense and sustained success exhibited by Sem field hockey. Entering the 2023 season, Sem is an 18-time Wyoming Valley Conference divisional champion (1975, '76, '77, '79, '02, '05, '06, '08, '09, '10, '14, '15, '17, '18, '19, '20, '21, '22), a 12-time District 2 champion (1987, '01, '02, '05, '06, '08, '11, '17, '18, '19, '20, '21) and 10-time PIAA state champion (2001, '06, '08, '10, '11, '13, '18, '19, '20, '21). The Blue Knights in 2022 had a 16-5-1 record and finished first in WVC Division 1.
The skills and values instilled while playing field hockey at Sem have followed numerous student-athletes to the collegiate and national ranks. Three alumnae — Lauren Powley '02, Kat Sharkey '08 and Kelsey Kolojejchick '09 — have competed in the Olympic Games. At the heart of Sem field hockey is a dedicated coaching staff that expertly emphasizes skill development, tactical understanding and a strong work ethic.
Emphasizing a competitive and supportive team culture, Sem field hockey welcomes those who dream of representing their country or playing at the collegiate level, as well as those who simply enjoy the thrill of competitive, high-level athletics, into our program.

Margaret Kerrick — Head Coach
Margaret Kerrick began her tenure as Wyoming Seminary Head Field Hockey Coach in 2023. She was no stranger to the program, however, as she served 21 seasons as an assistant coach under the legendary Karen Klassner, who retired following the 2022 campaign.
Coach Kerrick is a graduate of Earlham College in Indiana, where she played field hockey and softball while earning a bachelor's degree in sociology. Although she played offense in college, Coach Kerrick's coaching at Sem has long focused on the team's defense. She was an assistant coach for nine of Sem's 10 all-time PIAA state championships.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at Sem, Coach Kerrick was an assistant coach for 10 seasons at Misericordia University.
Danielle Runo — Assistant Coach
