Overview
Conference all-stars Will Ziegler '19 and Jerry Tang '19 led the Blue Knights to another District 2 team title as well as the WVC championship. Sem concluded its season at the PIAA quarterfinals in Hershey.
Led by Will Ziegler and Duncan Lumia, the Blue Knights finished the 2018 campaign with a 9-1 record and advanced to the semifinals of the District 2 team championships.
Ziegler reached the semifinals of the District 2 singles tournament, while Lumia advanced to the quarterfinals of districts. They teamed for doubles where they reached the District 2 final. Both were named to The Citizens’ Voice and Times Leader all-star teams.
Wyoming Seminary became a part of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) in 1984 which made it possible for several boys and girls to compete in district and state competition in singles or in doubles.

Raphael Cooper - Head Coach
Prior to joining Wyoming Seminary, Head Girls Tennis Coach Raphael Cooper served as head coach of the girls tennis team at Wilkes-Barre Area. In its first season of the program, the Wolfpack qualified for the District 2 AAA playoffs.
Prior to taking over the Wolfpack, Cooper was the head coach for the boys and girls tennis teams at GAR, where he helped transform the teams into viable and respected opponents.
Cooper, named the 2017 USTA Coach of the Year, founded the Wilkes-Barre Tennis Association in 2017. He provides free tennis instruction to youths of the Wilkes-Barre Area, within the elementary and intermediate school ages. He also founded the Quad County Classic.
A magna cum laude graduate of Wilkes University with a major in secondary English and a minor in dance, Cooper is an English teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and also teaches in the Performing Arts School.
