Second grade visits Everhart Museum
On Wednesday, November 6 the second graders visited the Everhart Museum in Scranton. The children first investigated various rocks and discussed their different characteristics (i.e. color, shape, texture, smell). Following the rock investigation, the children were given individual rock specimens and were tasked with studying various paintings in the art galleries. A highlight was the gallery which included pieces by John Willard Raught (1857-1931) who was originally from Scranton. The children chose paintings that reflected the characteristics of their chosen rocks, and presented their findings to the class.
