Wrestling teams win 2020 National Championships

The Blue Knights are National Champions! Following a National Prep Wrestling Championship victory by the girls team, Sem's boys team followed with a national team title of its own, marking the fifth national championship in school history. The Blue Knights crowned six national champions, including Gabe Arnold '23 (160), Andrew Donahue '22 (170), Brennen Cernus '22 (113), Nic Bouzakis '22 (126), Beau Bartlett '20 (138), Lachlan McNeil '20 (145). Sem topped defending champ, Blair Academy, 349-268, and topped 130 teams from across on the country. Bartlett is one of only 11 wrestlers in the country to win four individual prep titles in the 85-year history of the tournament. He earned an award for Most Pins in the Least Amount of Time, while McNeil was named the Outstanding Wrestler. This was the inaugural girls National Prep Championships. Sem wrestlers who took home titles were Ava Bayless '22 (121), Caitlyn Walker '20 (113), Kennedy Blades '22 (168), Piper Staniford '21 (185), and Sophia Smith '20 (130). Both teams came together several days later to celebrate. Congratulations to all of these outstanding student-athletes and the Blue Knights' coaching staff.
