Exciting STEM Saturday, January 19

Children in grades kindergarten through eighth who would like to learn more about computer programming are invited to attend a special STEM Saturday at Sem to take part in a program titled "Beyond the Hour: Kids Who Code."
 
The program will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Lower School. The event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. and is free and open to the public. No previous experience in coding is required. Reservations for this event are required. Sem and Non-Sem students are welcome-bring a friend! The first session is for children in grades K-1 who will learn programming basics using iPad apps and coding pieces. In session two children in grades 2-3 will discover "unplugged" coding and coding using the Lightbot iPad app. The third session is for children in grades 4-5 who will build coding skills using the unique Apple Swift Playgrounds app and small robots such as the Ozobot and the Sphero mini. In session four children in grades 6-8 will practice higher-level coding to understand coding languages used in high school and college courses.
