My name is Madison Sweitzer, and as a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and the University of Richmond, I am currently working for the Highland Support Project based out of Richmond, Virginia. I am so excited to share one of our new programs with Sem! We facilitate women's empowerment, sustainability, water, and health programs with Indigenous communities in Guatemala, Ecuador, and Arizona. We normally host groups to engage in a hands-on volunteer experiences in these regions but this year, we've taken that program virtual! A schedule of the virtual "trip" is attached here which includes the first few days of Spring Break. I would encourage any interested eighth grade student to sign-up here! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions to madison@highlandpartners.org. VIRTUAL K and FIRST GRADE
Both Virtual Kindergarten and 1st Grade learned all about Abraham Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg Address and created their own Honest Abe. They also celebrated Valentine's Day with "Heart" science! They learned the approximate size of their hearts and compared them to other animals and how the heart pumps blood through the body.
