PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES WSLS All-School In-Person or Virtual Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15. Thursday will be a noon dismissal and busing will be available in the morning and at noon. There is no school on Friday. Parents are asked to please schedule your conference online. While everyone is welcome to schedule a conference, we do appreciate conference slots being available for those who most need them. The size of some of our classes makes seeing everyone over the course of conference impossible. If you have any questions as to whether or not a conference is necessary, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or team leader. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions.
Please note: Toddler and Preschool teachers will be be in touch to schedule their own conferences.
Online directions: 1.) Click the following link: Fall Conferences 2.) Double-click the form for the teacher you want to schedule with. 3.) You may have to click the "pop-out" icon at the top of the page. (It is a small square with an arrow in the top right corner, located between the magnifying glass icon and the "X" icon on the top right side of your screen.) 4.) Once the screen is opened all the way, you may begin typing in it. You will note that there are a finite number of time slots. If there are no more times available, or if you would like to schedule a different day/time to meet with your teacher, please contact them directly to make those arrangements. 5.) Please do not edit/change someone else's time slot. 6.) Teachers will provide a Zoom link and/or it is listed on the sign-up sheet. DRESS DOWN DAY - RYAN'S RUN 12 On Thursday, October 7th SEM's Upper and Lower School campuses will be having a dress down day to benefit the 'Ryan's Run 12' efforts in raising funds and awareness for ALLIED SERVICES. Katie Callahan, Clancy Harrison & Jill Snowdon—three women in our Wyoming Seminary community, members of the Ryan's Run 12 team, are preparing to compete in the NYC Marathon on November 7, 2021. Each year the Ryan's Run team raises funds and awareness for patients and residents at Allied Services—a non-profit organization that truly changes the lives of children and adults with disabilities, life-changing injuries and chronic illness…and we could not be prouder that 3 members of our own SEM community are part of this incredible event! At Allied Services, miracles truly happen every day—in rehab, helping people regain health and independence after an injury; in improving the quality of life for people living with Parkinson's or recovering from a stroke; in empowering children to overcome a learning disability and so much more. Every donation makes a difference. And, with each $2 dress down donation, you will receive and official RR12 wrist band showing your support of our run. On October 7th we asking our SEM community--students, factually and staff--to show their support of Katie, Clancy and Jill— make a donation—dress down—make a difference. We thank you in advance for your support. ~Ms. Callahan, Mrs. Harrison & Mrs. Snowdon ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB DATES Sem's Lower School Environmental Club for grades 3 through 8 will be held two Tuesdays per month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. this year, and we may add a Friday meeting option beginning winter term if there are enough requests for that day. Our October meetings will be on October 12 and October 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the 7/8 Science Lab, Room 216. We have some exciting things to do this year! Members can participate during any or all terms but you must let Mrs. Carrick know. If you did not fill out the Google form linked in last week's Wednesday Weekly and are interested in joining the club for any term this year, please fill out this form.
Future Tuesday meetings: November 2, November 9, December 7, and December 14. Thank you, Mrs. Carrick jcarrick@wyomingseminary.org Grade 4 Field Trip - All Aboard! Grade 4 students will be traveling on the Lehigh Gorge Railway and visiting Jim Thorpe, PA on Thursday, October 7. This trip is also a dress down day for the 4th grade. The students will leave at 9:15 a.m. and return to the school at 2:45 p.m. HEALTH UPDATES As the transmission rate for Covid-19 continues to increase in Luzerne County and throughout Pennsylvania, we need to pull together as a community and follow the mitigation measures set in place to keep our students, faculty and staff safe. • Please have your child continue to wear a mask, social distance and maintain good hand hygiene during after school activities.
• If your child has a sore throat, fever, nasal congestion, cough, fatigue, body aches, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, follow-up with the pediatrician and get tested for Covid-19.
• Please do not send your child to school sick. Even if their illness is not Covid-related, sick and symptomatic children should not be in school.
• If anyone in your household tests positive for Covid-19, please notify the health office immediately (570) 718-6615. Do not send your child to school until you receive quarantine guidance. For guidelines on Domestic Travel please open here.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. Thank you.

They were "sampling" books from many genres and encouraged to try something outside their usual fare. Afterward, they enjoyed ice cream and snacks.
