Proof of vaccination must be submitted in the Magnus Health Portal after the second dose. Weekly testing of unvaccinated Lower School students age 5 and older will begin the week of January 10, 2022. Weekly testing of unvaccinated faculty, staff, administration and Upper School students that has been in place since October will continue uninterrupted. We are currently able to provide this testing at no cost to our families due to the state's provision of the tests. However, should this program end, information about cost and payment for testing will be forthcoming. Reminder: PAK Pediatrics of Kingston will host a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinic for our families on November 19, 2021 (first dose) and December 10, 2021 (second dose) from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on each date. The clinic will be at their office at 451 3rd Avenue in Kingston - please use the "Vaccine Clinic Entrance" at PAK Pediatrics. Please print, complete, and bring the attached forms with you to the clinic: Consent Form and Pre-Vaccination Screening. Geisinger is also now scheduling vaccination for children 5 or older. The vaccination clinic is at their location at 300 Keystone Avenue in Pittston. For more information and to register, please visit this website. When you get your child vaccinated, please upload your child's immunization card to Magnus after the second dose. We appreciate your help in keeping track of vaccination status for our students. Please contact Carol Kollar (ckollar@wyomingseminary.org) in the health office with any questions. Thank you. | SEM GOES SHOPPING CONTINUES Sem Goes Shopping (SGS) is a wonderful annual holiday tradition at the Lower School. It is a time for students to get into the holiday spirit and do a little shopping on their own during the school day. SGS runs from Monday, December 6 through Friday, December 10. The shop will be open from 8:30 a.m.- 2:45 p.m. each day. For your convenience, SGS envelopes were sent home last week with each primary child. Please return the envelope to school on your child's assigned day to shop. There are also gift labels inside the envelope that you can fill out with your child and return them to school. There will be additional labels at Sem Goes Shopping too. Thanks!
Middle School students may visit during lunches or any free periods throughout the day. | Carline Reminder
As the cooler weather season approaches, we have created a new carline traffic pattern. Our hope is to have students enter their cars sooner and warmer! The middle school and primary sides will remain the same, please continue to follow the same process of entering and lining up on the appropriate sides (left for any middle school and right for primary only). The change involves how and when these lanes move. As early arriving families know, we block the entire driveway while afternoon outdoor activities are happening. Beginning this week, the middle school side will remain blocked back by the map. (We reiterate our suggestion that middle school only families not arrive before 3:10 p.m.) Carline personnel will direct the primary line families to fill both lanes up to the crosswalk. Once the entire primary line has moved through, carline personnel will direct the middle school line to move forward to stage for dismissal. Please do not switch lanes unless directed to do so by carline personnel. Again, it is our hope that this new system will allow for our students to enter their cars quicker and closer to the building. As with all changes, we will assess this new system and adapt as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping to keep our students safe. | | | Nutcracker Sweets ~ Excerpts from the Ballet
Come and enjoy the Dance Company's holiday gift to the Sem community as our dancers perform the "Nutcracker Sweets" on Wednesday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the KCCA at the Upper School. Highlights from the ballet will include Clara's dance with the Nutcracker, the snow scene and many of the lovely dances from Act 2. Please join us as we celebrate this special holiday tradition!
Note: ALL audience members must wear masks to attend the performance. | | | HOLIDAY GIFT GIVING
It's the season of giving and the generosity of Lower School students in grades 4-8 was on full display Tuesday morning. Representatives from Wyoming Valley Children and Youth picked up gifts that will be given to local children in need.
Students and families provided gifts for 195 families and more than 600 gifts were collected for children and young adults. Thank you for your generosity!
Lower School Blue and White Team Leaders helped gather the gifts in bags and fill the van. Special thanks to Anita Sirak, Lower School Administrative Assistant, all homeroom teachers, and maintenance for their work in completing the project.
