VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

PARENTS EDUCATION - The WSLSPA sponsors visiting professionals to the Sem community in conjunction with the Office of Alumni and Development and the Upper School Parents Association.

SEM ATTIRE SWAP - This program allows parents to donate and purchase gently used Sem attire at a discount. Stop by the school office to see available items of clothing.

BOOK FAIR - This weeklong event held in the Sordoni Library allows students to purchase books at a discount. The proceeds are used to purchase books, videos and equipment for the library.

ORIGINAL WORKS OF ART PROJECT - Each year, the WSLSPA enables students (with the help of the school’s art department) to create artwork that is reproduced in a professional production.

HOLIDAY LUNCHEON - This is a luncheon held for the faculty and staff of the lower school in appreciation for all they do for our children.

SEM GOES SHOPPING - The WSLSPA sets up a gift shop at school so that students have the opportunity to surprise family and friends with gifts they select themselves which fosters independence.

HOLIDAY TEA - Following the Holiday Concert, all eighth grade students and their parents are honored guests at the holiday tea. This event is enjoyed by teachers, parents, grandparents and friends of the school.

SKI DAY - Families from the Lower School can hit the slopes at a local ski resort with their friends from the Sem community. Classes for children and adults are offered at a discount.

WYOMING SEMINARY AUCTION - Working together with the WSUSPA, this event raises funds for the faculty wish list. Parents, teachers, alumni and friends enjoy a night of fine food and drink as they bid for class projects and other items.

AUTHOR’S DAY - Each year, the WSLSPA sponsors a visiting author chosen by the teachers to foster an appreciation for fine literature and creativity. Students have the chance to work with the author in a small group setting.

FAMILY FIELD DAY - Family Field Day is an annual Sem tradition that has evolved into a community festival of friendly competition, entertainment, crafts, games, refreshments and more.

EIGHTH GRADE GRADUATION - The WSLSPA is responsible for portions of graduation such as arranging for the videotaping, providing flowers and planning the party for the graduates. Each graduate is also given a framed graduation photo.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES - Volunteers are also needed for additional areas such as Admission, the Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign.
